We are very pleased to announce that the Brisbane venue for the very wonderful Global Game Jam is back for the weekend of January 30th – February 1st.
We offer two options for registration: Physical (F2F) participation or Virtual (via Discord).
The Brisbane venue is an 18+ site. It is open for 24 hours but is not a ‘sleep over’ site. Come with a team or find folks to create with on-site. We recommend pre-organised teams choose either physical (on-site) or virtual via Discord (unless you have experience working together remotely).
The site is BYO everything you need to create a game. We supply a safe place (with security), power and network access (wi-fi only). There will be snacks and beverages provided, and hopefully there will be pizza!
We are thrilled to announce the dates for the 2025 Queensland Games Festival! This year we have two days – an Industry afternoon and evening and our usual free public exhibition day with all our favourite events and some new ones!
Day 1: Industry Framework Event – June 13th
Watch this space – our Industry Framework Event is designed for our game developer community as a space to chat about the things we need to chat about and share the things we need to share! QGF Industry Framework Event will be open for registration soon.
Day 2: The Queensland Games Festival Exhibition day – June 14th
The Queensland Games Festival exhibition will be held at the Brisbane Powerhouse on Saturday June 14th and will feature locally made games exhibited by the studios that made them, public workshops and networking opportunities plus our very favourite Emerging Developer Room mentoring sessions! Thanks to support from our own Zed Games, we are also hosting an Amplify Games Showcase for experimental projects, funky concepts and early WIP.
The EOI for the exhibition is now open and will close on May 4th – go to submission form
The Exhibition and event day is on at the same time as the farmer’s markets and we get public flow though which means things can get quite chaotic so having volunteers wandering around directing and helping makes such a difference.
Plus for those of you who do come and assist, what a good way of making yourselves known to to the local game development community!

Registration is individual so if you have a team please be sure to organise everyone – and make sure your team members register via the correct site. We will be sending out participation details on January 27th.
Important: GGJ is a completely BYO computer and tech event (e.g. computers, monitors, power cables etc.)
* Registration via Discord will involve you in agreeing to our Discord server expectations about behaviour, rules and protocols. You will also be asked if we can use public aspects of your activity in the jam as (anonymous) data for a community research project. Don’t worry if you don’t want to – you will have the opportunity to ask that your data is anonymised or not used.
